About Us - Governors
The Governing Body is made up of representatives
of various groups who have an interest in the working of the school:
parents, teachers, support staff, the local authority and the local
community. Members are either elected by these groups or co-opted by
other governors. The governors must be consulted by the Headteacher on
changes to school policy on matters of organisation, curriculum and
discipline. The governors set the budget and have a duty to monitor
targets for achievement and improvement. They are responsible for the
appointment of all staff.
Full governors' meetings are usually held termly and parents are welcome to attend as observers. Notices of meetings are displayed in advance and minutes are available a few weeks after the meeting. In the autumn term, the governors present a written report on the school and hold a meeting for parents to discuss this. A list of governors is on display in the main reception area and any written communication can be sent to them via the school office. Information about becoming a governor is available in the school reception area.
Complaints concerning educational matters should be brought to the attention of the Headteacher in the first instance. If they cannot be resolved parents have recourse to the Chair of Governors and then the L.E.A..
The school is administered by CEA @ Islington from whom we buy in various services. These include staff training and development, advice on curriculum matters, the School Library Service, Learning Support, Personnel Services, financial and premises advice and support.
