Curriculum - Special Needs
We recognise that all children have individual educational needs and
try to ensure that our curriculum activities are differentiated to
allow children to progress at their own level. Our special needs
provision is therefore directed towards supporting children in the
mainstream classroom and is based on practice which gives children
opportunities for success, and builds up their self-esteem.
We monitor children's progress through the use of an Individual
Education Plan (I.E.P.) to make sure that learning targets are set and
that appropriate support is provided. We always welcome parents to
discuss special needs with us and find that our work is most effective
when there is a good home/school partnership.
Our SEN Co-ordinator and learning support staff work closely with class
teachers to support individuals and groups of children who have been
identified as having special educational needs. Our work is carried out
in accordance with the Special Needs Code of Practice.
